Identifying Positive and Negative Controls

Postby captaindustbunny » Thu Oct 10, 2013 4:03 pm

A scientist is testing some bread for two strains of bacteria. He is going to use a sensor that will not react to the B strain of the bacteria, but will change from red to purple if strain A is present. What are the positive and negative controls? Why does he need these controls?

I know that he needs controls to be certain that the experiment is going to work and to determine the way that it will work if it is either positive or negative. However, I don't know what the controls for this experiment would be. Please help me out!
