significant difference

Hi everyone,
Sorry if this is covered before but I was thinking about which statistical test to use to check the significance in the experiment. I read some papers for what they are using and found out that some publications are not using any test except mentioning the SE.

I have two groups of plants one is getting a treatment and one as a control after calculating the mean and SD, is a t-test enough?
