How complex its eyes..They said that human eyes contains of four colour receptors...and they said also that one species of sea animal which is mantis shrimp (if I'm not mistaken) has 16 colour receptors..hmm...I wonder how complex is the colour that they can see in this world?
Oh yes..what resolution that human eyes can do?is it like handphone nowadays? 2 megapixels? and compared to that shrimp, who get more resolution?? Q: Why are chemists great for solving problems?

Doesn't the 4 colors still combine to make all the colors you can see? I mean my monitor is set at 32bit resolution. that's got to be millions of colors.

You can get millions of colors by combining those 4 basic colors but Mantis shrimp has 16 basic colors which some of them can't be seen by our eyes. So, don't be surprise if they can see things like plankton that actually we can't see them...
Simply said, they (Mantis shrimp) can see 'Ghost' and we can't see 'Ghost'.. Q: Why are chemists great for solving problems?

I am curious: what are the 4 colour receptors? because here in the land of the stupid they say that we have 3 color receptors(red, green and blue) in cones and the light receptors in rods..

Should be 3. I'm also curious as to why(I'm not saying it isn't because it is) our eyes sense green instead of yellow because wouldn't blue and yellow make green?

the light spectrum is different than paint. In paint, you have 3 basic colors: red, yellow and blue(flag of Romania In the light spectrum you also have 3 basic colors-red, green and blue. they mix to form yellow, purple and lila(translation?)-secondary light colors.
