WELL IT VERY GOOD QUESTION.
RESTRICTION FREGMENT LENGTH POLYMORPHISM HAS AN ENOROMOUS ROLL ON MOLECULAR BIOLOGY.
IT IS USED TO STUDY THE POLYMORPIC NATURE OF ANY DNA SEQUENCE. BESIDES THIS IT IS ALSO USED IN FORENSIC SCIENCE FOR DNA TYPING.

It is widely used in molecular typing of microorganisms especially bacteria for investigating the clonality between different organisms.e.g: in outbreak suspicion
