Oxytocin, vasopressin and promiscuity/sexual intercourseHello, I am a new member here.
Are there any credible studies linking promiscuity to a decrease in the release of oxytocin and vasopressin? And is there any evidence that promiscuity harms one's ability to pair-bond? Thanks.
Re:
I saw a study with voles, where they stopped them producing these hormones and the results were the voles were mating with several voles instead of just their partner (can't remember the exact details but that's the gist.) I have read that promiscuity damages the body's production of oxytocin and in the long run can damage an individual's ability to pair bond. Is there any evidence for this? From a biological standpoint, is promiscuity completely safe?
