Green Mosquito===Photos Available

I found a green mosquito today too. I was pretty freaked out. I caught it before it bite me. I think it was male, so I wasn't worried about it biting me.

This was definitely the best site I found about green mosquitoes. Who knew there would be such a large thread about it. LOL

I get loads of these green mosquitos, for the last two or so summers at least - I am in the Netherlands. I get a LOT of bites - usually two per night when it is calm and warm, and I have only found green and very occasionally small black mosquitos - identical to the green ones but jet black. The green ones are small, and look very thin considering they are taking so many bites out of me. The photos in an earlier post from South Africa are the most similar to the ones I see.

I can't believe there is not more about them.

Also, I find they don't whine like normal mosquitos. I am never bothered by them other than the bites and rarely even see them.

I moved to the Netherlands three years ago and never got such large swellings at bite sites as I do here - I have wondered if it something to do with these strange green mosquitos.
