Humane way of treating mice infestation?

What happens to a mouse if you catch him in the house and throw him away on some far meadow?
Does the mouse dies, what are his chances of survival? Someone told me he occupies territory of another mouse that than dies from starvation? Is it a humane thing to do? Is there a humane way of getting rid of mouse?

I know since they are house mice they probably get eaten, but at leas they have chance of surviving instead of killing them definetly, I mean isn't there just a slite probability that they will adapt?

I believe that snap traps are the most humane way to rid yourself of mice. It is almost instantaneous and probably allows little time for pain to be felt by the little fellas. Let me explain it this way: would you rather be killed instantly by a guillotine or be hunted down and eaten by a lion? Those house mice are most likely hawk or coyote bait when placed in an unfamiliar environment like that.

If you were to release a common rodent species of mouse like we have here in AU out into some paddock/ field it will survive no worries, as for killing them humanely I would say just a common old mouse trap would do the trick DON'T use ratsac as it is not only bioaccumulative but it is also not a humane way of dispatching mice or any rodent for that matter as it contains warfarin which upsets the victims clotting agents this in turn causes the rodent to "bleed out" anyway wont go right into it but the mousetrap would be a quick death I would say.
