The Processes of Degeneration and Reduction

Hey guys,

Does anyone of you know the difference(s) between "degeneration" and "reduction" as evolutionary processes? I have to be able to define and understand these two terms for an exam I have to sit soon, however, I haven´t yet been able to find any useful information.

If anyone were to help me with this that would be fantastic.

My guess would be that degeneration is qualitative while reduction is quantitative (even in metrics), but I have never heard about it in relation with evolution.
