Simple question about UniProt proteomesDear all,
so, I go to the UniProt website and I found many complete proteomes, for example the honeybee one: http://www.uniprot.org/taxonomy/7460 I noticed how the number of proteins in the complete proteome set varies greatly, even between similar animals. For example, the Macaca fascicularis (Crab-eating macaque) has 17,397 proteins in its complete proteome set, while the Macaca mulatta has 35,544 in reference proteome set. This puzzles me: how so? What's the difference between reference and complete sets?

Cis or trans? That's what matters.
Re: Simple question about UniProt proteomesAh! Thanks!
I should have looked at it before posting.
