I am looking for some actual names of whole genome sequencing technologies that are CURRENTLY being used today, as well as, references that I should be using to understand these methods and their purposes in terms of medicine.

Again you were of absolutely now help. I am not a graduate nor do I plan on getting a masters/PhD in this subject. I was looking for something along the lines of 454 sequencing, SOLiD sequencing, or illumina sequencing.

That's not my problem you're not good enough to continue in your studies.
You know already the main machines for next-gen sequencing, so I'm sure you will easily find how they work. If then and only then you will still have some doubts or questions, feel free to come and ask. Unless you will be banned at that time, concerning your behavior here around.
