Do snakes have tails???

Yes... Humans included.. And you can not say that we have a tail

there is....my bio book (indonesia version) said that our koxigea is analogised as 'tail bone'... :lol:

The term 'tail bone' is widely used for the coccyx bone.

Yes, in fact all snakes do have tails.

The easiest way to see this is to look in many of the primitive snakes, aka pythons and boas. Vestigial claws are present to the left and the right of the vent on many boas and pythons. If you take a look at an xray (tried to find one on the internet but no luck) of such an animal you would see the vestigial hind legs tucked in inside the snake, with only one of the claws coming out externally.

As for the defining point of the tail in all snakes, that would seem to me to be defined at a certain vertebrate posterior to the vent.

Hmm, I guess it's because there're not many reptilians outta there...What's interesting to me is their vestigial legs...I almost can't believe it that snakes prefer moving with no leg rather than using their legs.... :wink:

More evolved snakes, although dont't have vestigial legs, have protuberances at the spie level that show legs were present and innervated (brahial plexus and lumbar plexus).

snakes have tails(anus to tip of tail)
many south american constrictors have "spurs" especially the females, these are believed (by some) to have once been legs,which begs the question, whered the front 2 go?
as for necks.... fromthe base of the jaw muscle you have a pretty much square area (Width across _at_ smallest point behind head X length = to that width) that is considered the neck.

am i the only snake nut on this site?

Snakes have tails, but their bodies have such special shapes so it's a lil bit difficult to recognize the tails. But they do.
