Hey, i've always got this doubt: the right hemisphere of the brain controls the left side of the body and viceversa because the nerve fibres get crossed in the medula oblongata. But the nerves that have to do with sight, taste, hearing, smell, facial touch, etc. don't cross the brain stem, right? Does that mean than, for example, the right eye is controlled by the right hemisphere, or that the left side of the face is controlled by the right brain?

Hi,
Brain have control over the body. The part or organs of body follow the commands which brain gives. all different types of sensors can be recognize by the brain so according to that it will prompt the part of the body to do particular things.if brain have found some smell sensors than if will prompt nose that some kind of smell is there. So brain is the main part of the body which rules the body.

I don't know if anyone else noticed...but I always hold book with right hand while I read(left hemisphere),right hand (controlled again by left hemisphere..).Like my left hand would become bored while holding a book (because it's controlled by right hemisphere)
As MrMistery said vision is complicated..and doctors can locate tumors based on abnormal vision.For example tumor that makes pressure on optic chiasma would destroy nasal fibers from retinas and thus both temporal visual fields.
