Primate Behavior

I have a presentation to do about primate behavior. I've done research on it but now am trying to sum everything up and have it relate to each other. I would like to talk about they're social and parenting skills mostly and also how their behavior is similar to human behavior. If anyone has some interesting facts or some tips for me it would be greatly appreciated.

Good idea thank you! I'm also really interested in the Bonobo and why they are more peaceful then other primates and why they never cannibalize.

Well I guess they do eat other primates but I'm not sure about other bonobons.
I'm also really interested in why the females are the alpha.

here are some notes i took during a lecture by professor LAURIE SANTOS (google her for more interesting stuff)


bonobo social structure
• no intergroup violence
• no lethal raiding
• little intragroup violence
• no male violence towards females
o they make love not war
• female solidarity so males can’t form strong coalitions to gang up against them
o why can’t female chimps do this?
• Bonobos have herbs more continuously on the ground
• Chimps usually have to share with gorillas so female chimps have to forage alone in the trees
 Can’t form bonds with each other
