What is a monotypic habitat?

Postby nishantpanicker » Wed Dec 21, 2011 4:08 pm

Hi,

Please could someone explain what exactly is a monotypic habitat. I've been through the wikipedia part of it a thousand times, I haven't understood it a bit. This is urgent..for an assignment tomorrow I have to speak on monotypic habitats.

Thanks

I know this might not be that useful now but its a type of habbitat that only contains one species e.g. when an invasive species (like himalayan balsam) outcompetes all species in an area leaving itself as the only species. Just in case you're still interested
