Arabidopsis light stressA whole range of questions here:
1) The names of two anthocyanin compounds present in Arabidopsis. 2) Which photoreceptors might control anthocyanin production 3) Three other stress factors that influence anthocyanin synthesis 4) How do anthocyanins protect a plant against high light damage – where does the light energy go, and what might happen to mutant plants unable to synthesise anthocyanins? 5) What other related protective compounds are on the same biochemical pathway as anthocyanins, and do they have the same function(s) as anthocyanins? 6) Where in outdoor environments might sudden increases in available light occur? An answer to even one is greatly appreciated
1) go to www.google.com type in "Arabidopsis anthocyanin" and click on search
3) first two links on your Google search will give you some answer 4) what happens with the energy trapped by photosynthetic pigments if it is not passed to photosynthetic center? 5) look for biosynthesis of anthocyanins http://www.biolib.cz/en/main/
Cis or trans? That's what matters.
Re:
Thanks, I'm making progress. Also - if one does an experiment where they put a plant under light stress then measure anthocyanin concentration (using absorption techniques), why might the light response take some time to become detectable?
