A point in the right direction

Postby KRiley » Wed Nov 09, 2011 10:41 pm

A bit of background: For my botany lab we were divided into groups and had to come up with an experiment. My group chose to do nutrient isolation using a hydroponic setup to limit the soil end of the equation. I am in the middle of writing up the final paper (with little help from my lab partners) and have encountered a problem. Our introduction is to be mostly based on research and I am having trouble finding scientific papers with the information I need.

I have read many times in gardening books and websites about nutrient lock and how some nutrients can block the uptake of others, but I can't seem to find any supportive documentation.

The other major area I am trying to find is the effect of ph on nutrient uptake. I know certain plants (especially vegetables) uptake nutrients better inside of a certain ph range, but once again I'm having trouble finding supporting documentation.

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone out there could point me in the right direction as to where to look for the information I need. I've tried multiple searches under Googlescholar with little luck. Thank you kindly for your time.
