orbital hybridization

Can the concept of hybridization be applied to what we consider ionic, such as MgCl2 (sp hybridization, if we apply it)???

I think you meant to ask in a chemistry forum. But no, it cannot be applied to ionic compounds since the orbitals do not have to hybdridize, they simply form ions.

not really. However, all the ionic compounds have partially covalent character.
