Hello everyone This is my first post.

I am gathering all the info from my textbook, (but I find it really hard to read) and from this web site which seems quite reliable and I find it very well structured, easy to read and understand. http://pathmicro.med.sc.edu/mayer/IgStruct2000.htm

I have understood (I think) the difference in the structure and the fact that different Ig are located at different sites throughout the body. What I am not to clear on is how to correlate the diffrence in structure with the different activities of Immunoglobulins.

To help you along you way, think about the ways in which the variable region of the Ig may be changed and that may adjust its binding properties. For the most part, Ig is the same except for the variable region will adjust through recombinant (resultant protein change because DNA--> mRNA --> protein). If you adjust the variable section, amino acids will change in the variable region and if we conclude that certain amino acids have specific binding properties then the whole region may have different resultant binding properties.

It is an interesting topic. How far have you come? Likewise, i've to work on antibodies for a while. I'm in the middle of the research process now. I also try to look at and try out some manufacturers such as GenScript, which offers a range of products from bio-reagents to bio-essays. Well it might be nice to share some outcomes of the studies here..Good luck you all!!:)
