clostridium used to create butanol

Postby tnpalme » Thu Sep 15, 2011 6:06 pm

I was wondering if anyone knew if Clostridium Tetani or any other bacteria from the Clostridia genus could be used for ABE fermentation. I know that C. acetobutylicum has been used but i was wondering if anything else could be used. And if they can be used if they would be likely to have greater yeilds of Butanol or not.

Wikipedia:

Clostridium acetobutylicum is the most well known strain, although Clostridium beijerinckii has also been used for this process, with good results.

Clostridium acetobutylicum is a species not a strain.
neobe110 - do you mean species or strains - and please name them.
