MINIMUM SLEEP REQUIREMENT

What is the minimum sleep requirement for an average person to be able function effectively mentally and physically.Based on research i have done this minimum sleep requirement varies from person to person but how will i be able to find that out for me or any other person

try to sleep for a specified time for at least a week and you will see, whether you are doing fine or not ;)

Thanks but the that would mean i would have to plan an experiment to figure that out i guess only thing is that would mess up my sleep pattern which is effective for my academic studies any other suggestions guys
