help i.d a gastropodcan somebody tell me the scientific or even just the common name of this species of shell. i tried to search the net for the scientific name of this shell but i can't find an exact match for this. i think that this belongs to the family Strombidae, but i'm not quiet sure. it's length is approximately 110 cm and was collected in the Philippines. i really need your help. thanks
Re:
thanks for your answer. could this be a member of the Volutidae family? i just want to confirm. is this a Cymbiola vespertilio? i am not quite sure of it because there are some distinct differences from the actual shell that i collected and from the pictures i've seen from the internet.
It is definitely not one of the Cone shell species the Conidae family have rounded "unkeeled" shells, although it has very similar markings to the Textile cone (Conus textile) it could easy be mistaken for one, I do not know what it is but i have definitely seen them before here in Australia, gl with the id.
