Tiny rings of hair appearing on floor at homeHave any of you found tiny rings of hair on your floor at home or at work? By tiny I mean the diameter of a dime up to a quarter. I "think" these are being created by some sort of insect but I haven't seen any in the process of making the rings. The rings can appear overnight or sometimes in a few hours during the day. I would really appreciate any information anyone can give me about what might be making these rings and why.
I'll try. It may take me a day or two. Last night one of the rings I have been watching (1 of 2) seems to have disappeared or perhaps it has just been moved. As to appearance, imagine taking several strands of your own hair, twisting them into a bundle and then wrapping the bundle around your finger to create a loop somehow twisting or twirling the bundle to self-weave itself together. The hair is my own I think (same color). Any ideas what might be doing this?
Not cleaning your home?
More seriously, I have no clue what it can be. But maybe it can simply be you hairs. have you tried to pick them up and look closely (microscope, magnifying glass?). Patrick

I have a collection of these rings. 8 of them. When I first noticed them I thought nothing of them and just vacuumed them up. But over the last few months I started picking them up and putting them on a shelf. Don't have a microscope or magnifying glass. Using Mark I eyeballs they appear to be my hair formed into these rings. I've put a few strands of my hair next to the ones on the shelf and nothing happens. No ring is formed. The ring that went missing yesterday turned up about a foot from where it was first spotted. There is no way it could have been blown there or carried there by me. It was laying on top of some other hair. I'm not cleaning that area to see if the ring gets incorporated into a larger ring with the puffball of hair it is laying on top of. At present I suspect it has to be the work of some biological agent as no "weather" conditions are present that could form the hair into these rings. Just don't know what that agent could be. That's why I posted the message here. I thought perhaps someone knew of a hair-weaving insect that made rings from human hair found around the home.
One peculiar fact is that I am noticing these things form at the rate of about one every two weeks or so. The only time there were no rings formed was immediately after I got my hair cut short. It was almost three months before another ring appeared and by then my hair was longer (_at_ 2-3"). Curiouser and curiouser.
