Fish immunogenomics

Hi everyone,

I am doing a transcriptomic study on fish immunogenomics to study expressed immune genes, which involves fish-pathogen challenge. To do this I would like to know the parameters that I need consider. Especially, what is the appropriate concentration of bacteria to be used? Is strain-specific or fish species specific or both.

For additional info I am will be working on Asian seabass Lates Calcarifer challenged with live V. alginolyticus. But I do not know what concentration to use, is it dependant on LD-50, Lethal concentration or something else?

It usually depends on the bacteria, the fish and the mode of infection. So basically I think you will have to bite the bullet and prepare a test to define the paramater of your experimental model. That said, there is no need to kill the fish if that is not the general expected outcome of your experiment. A simple stable infection might ne enough. It depends on what you want.
