I would really like to post a lengthy dissertation on here, about how global warming is not likely to affect anyone in the near future, but I do not have much time on my hands, so I will just post some links here.

I've been watching the data accumulate on this for 30 years; at first, it was very fuzzy data and a lot of assumptions I wasn't crazy with, but that led researchers to more testing and much more focussed measurements. Too many times, the studies were obviously trying to find certain things, but there have been too many objective confirmations of the hypothesis.

Plus, when you see the base calculations for the increase in greenhouses gases and the heat-retention qualities of each, the logic alone is pretty convincing. We have literally changed the nature of the atmosphere, and now it looks like some nasty negative feedback processes (loss of albedo with snow and ice loss, release of more greenhouse gases as tundra melts, etc) are kicking in as well.

Look at the data, as skeptically as you want, but look at the actual data rather than discussions about the data - it's often not too complicated to understand.

Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of Earth's near-surface air and oceans since the mid-20th century and its projected continuation. According to the 2007 Fourth Assessment Report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), global surface temperature increased by 0.74 ± 0.18 °C (1.33 ± 0.32 °F) during the 20th century.Most of the observed temperature increase since the middle of the 20th century has been caused by increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases, which result from human activities such as the burning of fossil fuel and deforestation. its really a threat to us thank you for posting a thread like this....
