Install phylip in linux

Hi,
I want to do phylogenetic analysis.
I use linux and i recently download PHYLIP 3.69.
I know how to install it but i want to know that where to install it.
Means its neccessory to install it in user/local directory of file system.
Or i can install it on any destination????
I m confused pls give proper guidance.
