Glucose and epithelial cells

does glucose enter the epithelial cell against the concentration gradient and sodium ions down the concnetration gradient?

if not, what happens?

My book says
"It is the sodium conc. gradient rather than ATP directly that powers the movement of glucose into the cells" - surely this implis active transport (it is actually quoted as indirect active transport)

But they say that
the movement of glucose molecules move into the epithelial cell via passive transport.

Surely this is contradictory
