Where can I get Azotobacter vinelandii?

I am looking into producing alginic acid by Azotobacter vinelandii.
Alginates are useful and not that common.

These can be used for cell immobilization for production of various chemicals, which is made by adding sodium alginate to calcium salts.

Anyways, in order for me to continue with this project, I need to find a way to isolate or obtain Azotobacter vinelandii.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might go about doing that?

the type strain is ATCC478
USD 255 if you are in the US. The strain is available from other repository (DSM in Germany, JCM is IIRC in Japan) and many companies can sell you a selection of ATCC strains depending of your country. Shipping from ATCC to a different country is possible but can be tedious as you need to be certified by your country and have the papers to show you are before the ATCC ships anything.

Thank you. What about techniques of isolating it from soil samples?
Is there a way to identify where it is likely to be found, and than isolate it some how?
I don't have lots of money but I've got lots of time.

on the ATCC.org you will find the recipe for the recommended media for propagation. Some interesting ingredients in it.
Pubmed might help you to find a procedure for isolation. I don't have a clue.
Microbiology with weird species might be an expensive hobby though, with the price of selective media...
