Time a cell takes to circulate in the body?

Postby sosippus » Fri Aug 20, 2010 8:44 pm

Hello!

I have a "simple" question, that I have no idea how to address. I want to know, on average, how long does it take for an erythrocyte to go from a point in the circulatory system and come back to that point.

I know this is a strange question, that depends on the individual. Also, that the blood stream has different rates, and that the same cell may not come back to the same point again in its lifetime, but I still want to know how this can be estimated.

Thanks for all the help

well, you can take small amount of labeled erytrocytes, put them into human and see in how long time they will be back ;)
But you will probably inject them into the hand and there's really a chance they will never come back ;)

Cis or trans? That's what matters.

I am wondering about if high blood pressure and angina pectoris comes in the circulatory system diseases, I am working on a thesis paper for circulatory system affected by different types of diseases and also need to know how much chances of getting treated if these diseases affects your body heavily. I also need to know about which precaution and preventions can be use to overcome these effects.
