Vitamin Supplements

Dear All, just wondering why would these cause you to feel sick i.e. I purchased a tube of Beesline Vitamin C + Zinc dissolvable tablet sweets that you take with water. As soon as I take it I feel very sick with a headache. I've only taken 2 so far & just to build me due to the cold weather etc. I never take vitamin tablets (this is a first) so maybe I just don't need them?? Any suggestions?? Maybe overload yet Vitamin C does not store itself inside the human body?

The ADVANTAGE to taking vitamins is exagerated, unless you have a deficiency, then they can help.

Hi,
Vit.C may not matter, but unless you are low on Zinc, you should not take it. It is always better to get zinc from food sources.As a supplement, you should take only correct dose as advised by your doctor. You should also space it time wise from other medicines if you are taking, as zinc can interfere with them. You can probably try taking it on an empty stomach in the morning as zinc absorption requires an acidic environment. In any case, before taking such supplements, do discuss with your doctor first.

There is so many extras that are put into making vitamins into certain forms, that can cause an allergic reaction, just like foods can. If your body reacts so strongly to it, then do not take that specific one. Maybe try another one, and if you get the same reaction, then maybe it is something in it that may be the zinc or the vitamin c (what form is it in?).
I am with the theory that you should be able to get all your nutrients from food. My daughter eats a grapefruit every morning to keep her immune system fully functional as all her friends get sick and 'share' it with her (she can't be isolated. way too friendly and helpful that one), while the other one gulps down tangerine juice. I personally do the green smoothie (spirulina, chlorella, dulses/seaweeds, etc) to keep my immune system and body working properly during the sick season.

In this case, it's better to consult a doctor. Remember there are many brands of vitamins that are not suitable for our body. Vitamin D is a key substance when it comes to maintaining a healthy immune system. Vitamin D comes primarily from contact with sunlight and is made naturally by the body.

True, although vitamins is an important nutrients needed by our body, it's still to do consultations with a doctor. He/she can can check you up if you have any deficiency to a certain vitamins that you need to take.
But of course it's also important that we take our daily intake of nutritious and vitamin & mineral-filled veggies and fruits.
