the effect of excessive cell division in men after 50+ yrsI was just reading an article which discusses the reasons why human evolution has stopped. To make a long story short, t goes on to say: Old men seem to have more cell divisions than younger men. But old men don't involve in mating anymore due to change in reproductive patterns; but if they did there would a visible change in the species by now.
Anyway all I am trying to understand, why do cell divisions happen frequently in older males? And what is the result of all this excess cell division on the older males? PS: I happen to be a philosopher, rather than a true scientist...
you misunderstood/they misinterpreted it. The point is, they have more cell divisions before the sperm is formed, but the rate is still the same. And because there are more cell divisions, there is higher rate/chance of mutations in sperms

Cis or trans? That's what matters.
