interferonanyone know why the hype about the interferon died out? i know before the interferon was not able to be produced in serious amounts, but nowadays (via genetic engineering) we can form them seperately in a dish somewhere and then administer large amounts of pure interferon.
Hello AMF8,
It seems that you deal with Immunology and an advance in culturing About your interferon culturing, I am sorry I have no idea about it. All I know about interferon is that IFN is a kind of cytokine produced by virus-infected cells, or other intracellular infection. It is used to attrack effector T-cells, especially CD8+ or CTL to kill those cells. Furthermore, it acts to prevent further spreading of the infection. I hope I am not mistaken ![]()
my lecturer once commented that it was observed that many who got chemistry didnt get immunolgy - watcha think?
Oh what do you mean? I hated chemistry and biochemistry when I was a student. I only got C for them (awawawawaa that's soo terrible!

Now I am looking for topics for small research in Immunobiology. They should be simple but not bad in quality and also can be applied if possible, so they can be done by undergraduate students. I am starting to build my laboratory since last year. Do you have any idea? Thanks in advance.

Wow..that sounds no good..
Q: Why are chemists great for solving problems?
A: They have all the solutions.
Yes biology and chemistry are sisters or brothers
Btw, if you really like biology, I suggest you to study not only immunology but also immunobiology. The difference between them is mostly that in the latter field you will study not only study about defense system in human/mammals body but also in any kinds of animals, both vertebrates and invertebrates. That's really a nice fied, I can say that ![]()
Biochemistry learns chemistry process in the organism's body while chemistry learns all the general about chemical things...
For immunology, I have read that chapter and there're some chemistry things also because you can't say that there isn't any chemical reactions inside organism's body.. Q: Why are chemists great for solving problems?
A: They have all the solutions.
