Microarray ChipsI was just wondering if any one knew any manufacturer that just sells the chip itself without any probes for the production of a microarray chip?
I have little doubts, that you would be able to do MICROarray by yourself. But you can do miniarray on glass slides by yourself, that's (was) quite common before chips

Cis or trans? That's what matters.
Re: Microarray ChipsYes, I know that. but this is a project thing where I am assuming that I am starting a business and that I will hire the staff that are capable of doing it. However, I need to calculate if it would be cheaper to buy in the chips and then do the stuff ourself in order to protect our product which are the probes or just to outsource everthing and allow other companies to actually build it for us. Thus I need a manufacturer that can deliver the chip without the dna and stuff. is this the actual website you are giving me (http://www.biolib.cz/en/main/) to find this information?
No, no, BioLib.cz is page with taxonomic system and stuff...
That depends, what type of chips you want to do. The one of Affymetrix with sieves is expensieve, because you need many sieves for each chip. On the other hand, there is another system, where you use some kind of mirrors or something, which are usable every time. But this will be probably copyrighted, so I don't think you would be allowed to do it by yourself... http://www.biolib.cz/en/main/

Arrayer can be bought also I do not know the manufacturer and as far as I know the blueprint to make one were made available by the lab that created the technique, and you can build your own from that.
Having discussed with people making their own chips, it can actually be economically competitive for small arrays (a few hundred genes). But what about the probe synthesis? Doing it on your own will be *very* complicated, to say the least... Patrick
