DNA TranslationCan anyone help me with this question?
During transcription a mRNA is formed from the DNA template. This mRNA is then translated in the translation process using ribosomes and tRNA. If the DNA sequence was ACCAAACCG what would be the nucleotide sequence or anticodon of the transfer RNA (tRNA) for the first codon? 1. ACC 2. TGG 3. UGG 4. UGGUUUGGC Note: UGG is not a correct answer, I asked my professor and he says UGG is not the answer. So that leaves 1, 2 and 4. Any idea which one it is? Explain to my why, I'm a bit confused on this topic.
You don't have specified, whether you have coding or anti-coding DNA sequence and either which ORF you're using (as there is no START codon).
Anyway, I would guess UGG as well. 4. is definitelly not true, as anti-codon is composed of three bases and it can't be 2. as T is in DNA, not in RNA. IMHO, your teacher doesn't know, how is it with coding/non-coding DNA sequence and s/he didn't have the correct answer in the book. http://www.biolib.cz/en/main/
Cis or trans? That's what matters.
Re: DNA TranslationDNA = ACCAAACCG
=> mRNA which is COMPLEMENTARY to the DNA = UGGUUUGGC => the first anticoddon which is attached to the mRNA is ACC Therefore , the answer is 1.
Re: DNA Translation
Not really, if it was coding sequence, than the mRNA will have the same sequence except T/U changes. http://www.biolib.cz/en/main/
Cis or trans? That's what matters.
Re: DNA Translation" Not really, if it was coding sequence, than the mRNA will have the same sequence except T/U changes. "
Oh no, " during the transcription, a mRNA is formed from a DNA template" ( as the questioner had mentioned ), so the mRNA must be complementary to that DNA template, can't be the same. The mRNA sequence should be UGG... I'm sorry if my English is not very good.
Oh no, read about coding strand first

Cis or trans? That's what matters.
Re: DNA TranslationIn my opinion, after DNA is melted, there are 2 strands seperated : template strand ( which is complementary to the the mRNA ) and coding strand ( which is the same as the mRNA sequence, except T/U changes ). The mRNA binds to the template strand.
The question : "During transcription a mRNA is formed from the DNA template...If the DNA sequence was ACCAAACCG ... makes me think of the template strand of DNA, not the coding one ...
Re: DNA TranslationThe nucleotide sequence of a DNA codon is GTA. A messenger RNA molecule with a complementary codon is transcribed from the DNA. In the process of protein synthesis, a transfer RNA pairs with the mRNA codon. What is the nucleotide sequence of the tRNA anticodon
A) CAT B) CUT C) GUA D) GTA There is no thymine in RNA. So it can only be one answer. Besides that, if you work out the complimentary base pairing, it must be: C.
