tertiary protein structure functional groupsHi all,
Would appreciate if you could help me with this question that I'm struggling with. Thanks in advance! Which of the following functional groups forms cross bridges that help stabilize protein tertiary structures? a. hydroxyl b. carbonyl c. amino d. phosphate e. sulfhydryl
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disulfide_bond
so i would say e. sulfhydryl
all of them is the answer as the 4 types of bonding (namely hydrogen, hydrophobic, electrostatic and disulphide) are involved in making the secondary, tertiary and quatenary structure)
it isn't what you do that matters but it is how you do it
Re:
all of the 4 bonds stabilise. and as i stated in my earlier post all 4 are involved in the sec, tert and quat structure it isn't what you do that matters but it is how you do it
