Identifying a flowering tree/plant

Postby darinlewis » Sat Oct 31, 2009 1:49 pm

Hello,

We live in zone 5 near the Illinois-Wisconsin border. We had a beautiful flowing tree at our old house and we would like to plant one at our new house but we cannot remember the name. The tree was about 40 feet tall and had large pink flowers. I have attached two pictures.

Any help would be appreciated.

What is zone 5?

Unfortunatelly, tree behind a house can have nothing to do with the area, where it grows ;)
What where the leafs like? I guess, you don't have any more detailed picture, do you?

Zone 5 just indicates that the low temperature can get to -10 to -20 degrees F.

I wish I had a better picture - we're still looking. My wife and I remember the leaves very differently (of course)...

Sorry I can't provide better information.

They seem to be quite large, right? Probably in one piece, right? (sorry, I don't know, how to say this in english)

What about the flowers? What did they look like? Many of them (inflorescencia) or separate?
