Our environment is changing

Postby lavrluc » Mon Oct 19, 2009 10:50 am

Our environment is changing that’s a fact.

We know that it all started when industrial revolution began. People started to use non-renewable resources such as fuel, coals and minerals instead of the renewable resources because of the obvious reason non-renewable resources helped them a lot especially in transportation and in machineries. The demand of these resources increase. So what will the producers do? Of course they will also increase their “harvest” of fuel, coals, and minerals so they will earn more. And what will they use it for, for the future of their family. But come to think of it, did they even think of our future. Well, I don’t have anything against it because what they have discovered is very useful in our daily living today. Because we want an easy life we just past the consequences on our environment.

Our environment increasingly changes because of the increasing rate of environmental pollution that we make everyday. Contamination of air, land, water, and others that can be polluted is caused by, of course our own human products. We have abused our resources such as fuel, coal, and minerals that started land pollution; industrial waste, sewage, chemical and agricultural wastes pollutes our water; and air pollution caused by carbon-dioxide emission of factories and cars. Greater awareness of health and environmental hazards has created pressure for laws that control the amount of released pollutants. The long-term effects of pollution are not yet precisely known, but it is widely believed by scientist that global warming is a threat to most forms of life on the planet. Global warming has started to affect our lifestyle not only here in the Philippines but also abroad. Our recent encounter into two strong typhoons has brought our country into its devastation. Many people lost their homes, important things and lives. And we all know that it is indeed one of the sign of global warming.

Our Environment Today

Postby nizeruth » Mon Oct 19, 2009 12:47 pm

One of the principles of environment is said to be "your environment is you". This principle means that we are the one who is responsible for the environment. We are created to take care of our environment. As a Filipino, we are blessed with many natural resources. Here is an example of these resources :

As time goes by, just like the appliances and machines that we have, these resources are being depreciated. It is depreciated because these are being overused by the people around it. Also as today, many pollution are already present in our society and it is caused by humans. We are the only reason for these pollutions because we are only the one who is taking care or handling the environment. Some are just making buildings in the wrong place. Many people wrongly disposed their garbage. Many advanced technology affect the environment, example of it is the pollution coming from the cars. These pollutions is the cause of the climate change that is presently encountered here in the Philippines. One example of the effects of climate change is the recently typhoon that was named ondoy and pepeng. These typhoons affects many family in the Philippines. Many places were been flooded with not just water but with mud, maybe because of the dirty environment. Here are some pictures taken from typhoon ondoy and pepeng :

These are the effect of climate change that caused by the pollutions by humans.

As a human speaking to others, I realized the importance of the cleanliness of the environment after these calamities. I realized that we must start now to change our wrong doings in the environment, especially the wrong disposal of our garbage. These calamities would be serve as a lesson for us so we would not encounter it in the future. So start now or else all of us would suffer. It is now or never :D  :)

"ENOUGH"

Postby renedacles » Tue Oct 20, 2009 1:47 am

“Don’t we hear the beseeching voices around us? Or are we just deaf and numb to what nature say – enough!

Years have been passed, trees grow taller; animals become stronger and wilder; humans turn more intelligent; and technology into progress. Aren’t we fortunate enough to see these? More likely, something is in contrast to it -- "unfairness act of human".

Did we notice the statistical change all over the years on how destruction to environment increase? Or didn’t we realize the air we breathe is becoming worst? Yet, did we show a little concern to our surroundings? :(

Green mountains; clear and clean water; relaxing air throughout the environment, these are what we felt before, not at present. So badly, we are now experiencing undesirable changes, but still we continue giving desperation to our Mother Earth.

Spill oil, throw garbage, give off harmful gases, cut trees, and kill animals. Are these acts satisfied us? Or are we meant to be born just to do these?

We’ve been humans classified as the powerful being and creation of God. Scientifically, we have the high intellectual abilities compared to other animals in this life bearing earth. We have also the emotions and acts to do superior all against odds. But have we been truly powerful in all phases? Definitely not. When nature’s revenge burst, had we ever said we're winners over its dreadful power? Sad to say, we can’t surpass its strength. We're defeated to it and this served as a punishment for destructive acts we did. But we didn't stop the abusement, we much led it to worst.

Is this our fate? Does responsibility to ourselves fading?

We, humans, powerful being, yet a deaf and a numb to the beseeching voices around us, saying – “ENOUGH!” :(

Environmental Pollution
By rian21

Environmental pollution is one of the most serious problems facing humanity today. It causes global warming, destruction of the ozone layer, and the other potentially disastrous processes. Air, water, and soil- all harmed pollution- are necessary to the survival of all living things.
Badly polluted air can cause illness, and even death. Polluted water kills fish and other marine life. Pollution of soil reduces the amount of land available for growing food. Environmental pollution also brings ugliness to our naturally beautiful world.
Everyone wants to reduce pollution. But the pollution problem is as complicated as it is serious. It is complicated because much pollution is caused by things that benefit people. For example, smoke from cars causes a large percentage of all air pollution. But the car provides transportation for millions of people. Factories discharge much of the material that pollutes air and water, but factories provide jobs for people and produce goods that people want.
Thus, to end or greatly reduce pollution immediately, people would have to stop using many things that benefit them. Most people do not want to do that, of course. But pollution can be gradually reduced in several ways. Scientists and engineers can work to find ways to lessen the amount of pollution that such things as cars and factories cause. Governments can pass and enforce laws that require businesses and individuals to stop certain polluting activities. And most importantly, individuals and groups of people can work to persuade their representatives in government, and also persuade businesses, to take action toward reducing pollution.

A Change

Postby akehseam » Tue Oct 20, 2009 4:50 am

Why can't we observe that this world is getting worse. We human are abiding to demolish our environment.

Our world is now experiencing an abundance of changebut most of the it does not benefit humanity. Pollution, harmful chemicals, toxic waste and one of the most harmful things that have affected human is smoking. These are just some of the negative changes in our enviroment has omly gotten worst. Some of the changes are irreversable. Because se rely on our technology, we constantly put our environment at risk. Everytime we use our natural resources and dont replace them we are not benefiting our planet but quite opposite, harming it. Exmaples of it is deforestation. In deforestation, the soil we use becomes soft and unstable which may cause floodings and landslide. Over fishing may lead to imbalance of our water surroundings. Due to this unrihgteous doings, world hunger may occur.

Our environment needs more attention and cure because we are the only one who can make a significant change that can put it back to its original beauty cause we need to preserve this world for the sake of all individuals.

Environment; Nature Do Revenge too...

Environment; Nature Do Revenge too...

The only permanent thing here on earth is change. Every year, month, week, day, every hour and every minute, even every second we encounter change. How we can cope up with this every change is a challenge! Now, that we're here and alive in the 20th century, our environment is experiencing a simultaneous changes with enormous effects, few positive and many negative sides. These changes to the environment maybe brought by the environment to itself but definitely not to harm it instead to rejuvenate the wounds and scars that human brought to the environment.
The environment is created primarily to supply and support all the lives around it such as the animals whether aquatic, aerial, or terrestrial, plants and animals and most especially human. All the organisms and species that surround the environment draw their food, shelter, water, and even their living but with excessive, abusive and careless treatment to the environment, harmful and dreadful effects do occur.
Disastrous typhoons, earthquakes, hurricane and tornado, lightning and thunder, excessive floods and landslides are the few effects of the changes that human brought to the environment and even brought to themselves. Actually all the above mentioned are but just normal phenomena to the environment but with abnormal intensity, rate, magnitude and number of it, it became really harmful to everybody and causes a rapid increase in death rates whether of plants, animals and human.
Somehow, everything that had happen is just environment’s way of saying that “I’ am hurt,” and “Stop everything that causes my hurting.” In a way it is just but revenge to all the abusive things that human did for the benefit of him without thinking the effects and damage to the environment.
It is never too late for us to change our wrong doings and ask for forgiveness to the environment and nature. Like God, environment is also merciful. It can forgive anyone who repents. We need to change our inhuman acts for the good and betterment of all. Stop illegal logging and mining, dynamite fishing, hunting and eating of endangered species of animals, turning of agricultural lands to commercialized and industrialized facilities, the excessive use of CFC’s, and many other more. Let’s stop all these things and start to love and care nature. Let’s apply the give and take relationship. If you give, you will take. If everybody gives love and affection to the environment, the environment will continue to support our living and it will be very possible for the next generation to experience and see nature. Even small act of kindness will mean to much to the environment such as planting trees in your own backyard, disposing garbage like candy wrappers to their right places instead of throwing it anywhere. Preserving the environment for the future generation is everybody’s mission. Always remember, “Environment; Nature do revenge too!”

Environmental Change

Postby dhay14 » Tue Oct 20, 2009 8:51 am

“Change is the only thing that does not change in this world”. As the earth continues to revolve, change continue to change, one of this changes is our environment. As we observed our society started from primitive and now we consider it as an urban society. Consider the Philippines, Before could say that it was a wonderful land and healthy and a wealthy natural resources, environmental problems and not our populated. Natural state also during primitive period very good compared today. But due to the human activities which changed and modified all of this, we suffered a lot today. Taller buildings, scattered squatter area, over populated, insufficient resources of human primary needs and environmental problems will be observed today. We are likely suffered from chronic and acute diseases such as respiratory problems because of million vehicles and other factories releasing dangerous smoke. Our soil, water and air become contaminated, polluted and therefore bad. In accordance with this, many natural processes including flashfloods, earthquakes and etc. will be experiencing. A tragic example of this occurred on day of Sept. 26, 2009 when typhoon Ondoy landed and destruct the area of NCR especially Metro Manila. Many infrastructure, establishments were destroyed and the worst, the lost of many lives. After this tragedy, it was followed by typhoon Pepeng, which destroyed the northern part of Luzon. Like typhoon Ondoy, it brought worst effect in the said area. Many properties, buildings, lives and etc. were lost. It is a sign of what we call a climate change.
As a Human, we are the one who responsible in taking care of our resources. Save Our Life, Save the Earth it’s not too late.

**REALIZATION OF TRUTH**

Postby angeleiz » Tue Oct 20, 2009 8:56 am

As time passed by, the world changes. The survival life from primitive period up to now, the present Information and Globalization period has made spectacular changes in lifestyles as well as environment itself. New inventions had risen every centuries that made life easier and comfortable, work faster, and so many things that replaces human effort. But we didn’t noticed as time keeps running our Mother Earth suffers in the side effects of our creation.

Life and Environmental changes of many kinds are accelerating worldwide posing significant challenges for humanity. Solutions are needed at any level, where physical and chemical features of the landscape, bio-systems, and human institutions interact.

Millions of people suffer in health illness and death attributed by the environmental factors, including climate change and pollution as it features in daily news of media and newspapers. Unsafe water, poor sanitation and hygiene as well as indoor and outdoor air pollution are all said to be killing people and preventing economic development. Increasing soil pollution, pesticides, hazardous waste and chemicals in food are significantly affecting health and economies. Environmental conditions like global warming has a major impact on health. For almost form of cancer, the risk of contracting this disease can be reduced if physical environments are safe for human habitation and food items are safe for consumption. It also leads to lowering yields of some crops and salination of coastal areas.

The problem of finding the best way to protect our environment is one of the most difficult to solve, unfortunately, fighting against pollution or save endangered species is not enough: we need a global environment strategy.

--Remembering the true meaning of conservation- a time of hope. Amidst the problems we are facing each day, we should not forget that there will still be a ray of light to guide us through the darkness.

Solution for the Destruction

Postby gm24 » Tue Oct 20, 2009 9:15 am

Our environment is the place where living and non-living things naturally occur. We all know that we must take care of our environment and be a responsible citizen. But, as we look around in our surroundings, we can see that our environment was slowly destroyed because of us. A variety of environmental problems now affect our entire world. As globalization continues and the earth's natural processes transform local problems into international issues, few societies are being left untouched by major environmental problems. Some of the largest problems now affecting the world and also affect the lives and health of their populations are Acid Rain, Air Pollution, Global Warming, the transboundary movements of Hazardous Wastes and Chemicals, Ozone Depletion, Smog, Water Pollution, Overpopulation, the loss of the planet’s Biological Diversity and Rain Forest Destruction/Deforestation. All of these global environmental trends have long-term effects on people and societies. A very good example of the effects of these environmental problems was what happened in our country when typhoon “Ondoy” and “Pepeng” hit the Philippines. It was a disaster and nightmare to all the Filipinos affected by that calamity. It flooded in lots of cities and provinces in Luzon. The flood was very high that is why some of the places are still flooded. It destroyed a lot of properties, livelihood, and sadly it killed a lot of lives. These calamity causes fear to every one of us. But who shall we blame for these??? Of course we must put the blame on ourselves and not to others. It is our entire fault why these things our happening in our environment. We do not take care of our environment and we are irresponsible and selfish. These are the nature’s revenge for all our irresponsibility and abuse. We do not know what will happen next. So, we must learn with all our mistakes and start to take care of our environment, be responsible and have a discipline. Every environmental problem has causes, numerous effects, and most importantly, a solution. And that solution is in our own hands, it must start with us.....We can still save our environment... We can save our world.... “It’s never too late to do the right thing....”

Stop the Unwell Acts for the Betterment of Nature!

Postby jazsQ » Tue Oct 20, 2009 9:46 am

During the primitive time period, people enjoyed the abundance of the resources, fresh air, pristine water water and they lived peacefully.

Many years had passed, people started utilizing the earth's resources, hence, agricultural revolution existed. They'd cultivate plants. However, during this period, people started to clear and burn forests which we called as "Slash and Burn Technique" which causes the introduction of the depletion of wildlife animals.

Years later, people invented machines which started during 1700's. Why? Because they believed that machineries would help make work easier, lighter and faster. Since then, machineries were being used not only in many factories but also at home. As a result, many factories have been developed through the help of machines, however, on the other hand, the more factories developed, the more wastes were produced. As a matter of fact, those factories built nearby bodies of water caused the depletion of aquatic organisms due to the chemicals. Not only the aquatic organisms were affected but also the health of people thriving near to it.

However, people were not yet contented of their inventions. They wanted to have a better development and with this aim is the start of "Globalization or Innovation" which we are experiencing today. As people continuously innovating,an issue of overpopulation is also arising. In fact, our country is one of the most populated over other countries due to its rapidly increasing number of people. When we are to compare between past years' situation and today, there's really lot of changes. People today are enjoying the modernize lifestyle not thinking that they have forgotten Mother Earth. They are no longer protecting the earth, instead, they're making it worsen. Factories produce chemicals that will affect the ozone layer and eventually causes global warming. Moreover, people are getting lazy and irresponsible of throwing garbage and that was one of the causes that worsen the flood due to typhoon "Ondoy" two weeks ago. People are cutting trees instead of reforestation to avoid flash floods specially in rural areas. Because of the human practices, water, air and land are polluted. These are some of the unwell human acts that needs to be changed before it's too late because nature can do revenge too. Man is responsible of the destruction, hence, man should be responsible of saving the earth.

Environment- Climate Change

Postby simplepretty82 » Tue Oct 20, 2009 10:34 am

Climate change is already happening and represents one of the greatest environmental, social and economic threats facing the planet. The European Union is committed to working constructively for a global agreement to control climate change, and is leading the way by taking ambitious action of its own.The warming of the climate system is unequivocal, as is now evident from observations of increases in global average air and ocean temperatures, widespread melting of snow and ice, and rising global mean sea level. The Earth's average surface temperature has risen by 0.76° C since 1850. Most of the warming that has occurred over the last 50 years is very likely to have been caused by human activities. In its Fourth Assessment Report (AR4), published in 2007, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) projects that, without further action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the global average surface temperature is likely to rise by a further 1.8-4.0°C this century, and by up to 6.4°C in the worst case scenario. Even the lower end of this range would take the temperature increase since pre-industrial times above 2°C - the threshold beyond which irreversible and possibly catastrophic changes become far more likely.Projected global warming this century is likely to trigger serious consequences for mankind and other life forms, including a rise in sea levels of between 18 and 59 cm which will endanger coastal areas and small islands, and a greater frequency and severity of extreme weather events.Human activities that contribute to climate change include in particular the burning of fossil fuels, agriculture and land-use changes like deforestation. These cause emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), the main gas responsible for climate change, as well as of other 'greenhouse' gases. To bring climate change to a halt, global greenhouse gas emissions must be reduced significantly.

Environmeantal Changes and Effects
Isn't good to live in a clean environment? Eating clean food. breathing fresh air, drinking unpolluted water, swimming in a clean and unpolluted rivers and living in a good condition environment. But can we still live in this kind of environment? There are lots of environmental changes like climate change which we are now experiencing; too much rain fall or too hot which is we know that is not normal in our country. Climate change may increase the treat of some infectious and contagious diseases, mostly those diseases that appear in warm areas and are spread by mosquitoes and other insects. High temperature may lead to increasing in air and water pollution, which may danger to human health. We are also suffering from global warming , and what is this global warming? Global warming is the increase in the average temperature in Earth due to the greenhouse effect. These events are happening due to our irresponsible throwing of garbage , using too much technology which has directly e affects our atmosphere , cutting trees and fossils fuel burning. This Global warming affects the rising of sea level and extreme weather events. Mind you when typhoon Ondoy visit our country, look what happen, too much flood , diseases spread in every affected person. We must accept the fact that the responsible for these changes is human. Because of us we are suffering from the undesirable changes in our environment. Our environment is just giving back to us what we gave to it. Imagine , we are getting our daily needs in our environment but see how cruel we are? Instead of caring we are destroying our environment. Its a time for us to be responsible i order to save our environment and our lives.
