How does high salt concentration influence denaturation kinetics of DNA? Explain your reasoning.

Salts can change the charge of the phosphate backbone by donating electrons or possibly attracting an Oxygen atom from the phosphate ion, causing the charge to chage.. which could cause the 5' and 3' end to repel eachother.

Doesn't he mean by denaturation just unfolding the strains one from each other?

yes...and I described that. the 3' and 5' repel each other, thus they unfold.

Look it up in a text.

But wait, using LOW SALT concentrations is what scientist use to denature DNA. If you have high salt concentrations you will most likely have an unstable z form DNA.

sorry, I am just learning this stuff as well...little rusty.
