horned fruit flies

Postby charles brough » Tue Jul 05, 2005 2:05 am

fruit flies are a favorite for such work because they do just what you did. It is not hard to cause stunting variations like you have. They occur all the time in nature and are weeded out because of being less adative. They are evolutionarily significant only when the rare occassion turns up that they help the species and, thus, survive in competition and are passed on genetically.
