ArchaeaHow can they live in such extreme enviorments?
Are you looking for examples of how they survive or something else?

Could you explain to me what a thermophile is please?

bacteria found near volcanic vents. Can withstand deep sea pressure and intense heat from the magma/lava.

Thank you mithrilhack - What level biology class are you in?

I'm in a first year bio class but I have read some books on evolution back in my religion busting days

I'm in the middle of my religion busting days myself - I'm in high school and I'm in my first biology class.

archea can survive in extreme condition because of a lot of things; to name some, halophiles have compatible solute to avoid problem with osmosis, hyperthermophils have heat stable enyzmes (more ionic groups) and membrane with more sturated lipid .... stuff like that, they are fit to survive in those kind of condition
If archaea had a brain, they would probably think: How can human survive in the presence of O2? Each organism is adapted to it's environment, including archaea
