Yeah... we are still living in the past here in Romania... But the table salt here cotains iodine for the tiroid gland to work properely
Yepyep! Many salts in america are still iodized. Restaurants won't buy iodized salt for liability of iodine allergies.

If some restaurants in US don't use iodized salt then the thyroid glands of the consumers will grow bigger then???(if they keep eating at the same place fro periods of time) Hey..I've gotten new hypothesis..According to me: Amonia (NH3) are toxic things that comes out from the deamination process of nucleic acid and proteins. But in some cases, our body need amonia to form amino-acid (such as Arginine, etc.), and purines (Adenine and Guanine). Our body excretes Amonia, uric acid, urea, kreatin, kreatinin and some salts in the urine. (Urea and uric acid are less toxic than amonia). When we drink our urine, it will directly go to ventriculus (which contais HCl). You know that when amonia meets HCl, it will become buffer or hydrolized...(let's just take the buffer one)..when amonia and HCl are mixed into Amonium Chloride (NH4Cl) it will less toxic isn't it??? then together with uric acid and urea it will be deaminated and the NH3 molecules will be accumulated and such amino-acid, Adenine and Guanine can be formed from that. The rest is water and salts which can be excreted or taken by our body...how is that?? Q: Why are chemists great for solving problems?

All or most restaurants refuse to use idoized salt. The liability issues is too much. Unless people eat there for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, yes. But remember, you don't actually NEED iodine in your diet. Some people are allergic to it and cannot have it at all.
There are certain diets you can follow to get around it. People allergic to iodine are very much alive and functional
How is that? I mean tiroxin and triiodotironin contain iodine(4 or 3 atoms). If you don't have it how can you make the hormones?
@victor Some animals, like bears, are capable of using urea and to turn it into aminoacids when they hibernate. But the human body can not do that

Yupz..Tiroxin and Thriiodotironin forming need iodine atoms...how can they do diet without Iiodine? (except all the people there have a big thyroid glands @Andrew Bears can turn urea into amino-acids. There must be some special systems which human don't have it.. That's exactly what i was saying. Bears are capable of turning nitrogen wastes into aminoacids but humans are not... This is because bears needed proteins to stay alive during hibernation so nature gave them such an ability...
