Re: Converting Glucose to Fat or ATP?Insulin is a hormone secreted by the pancreas. It signals to cells to take up the glucose in the blood. Some glucose is needed immediately for energy. The rest is stored away in glycogen reserves in the liver and muscle. When the glycogen stores are filled, leftover glucose is converted into fat, and stored in that way (this process is not reversible, i.e. you cannot convert free fatty acids into glucose).
