Help asap! Cant find unknown BacteriaHi i need a little help identifying an unknown bacteria. This is all the information i have on it. If someone could help me find this bacteria that would be great
Unknown Bacteria. Gram Pos Rod, Nutrient Agar Clear Blood Agar Clear Eosin Methylene Blue Agar Clear Mannitol Salt Agar Tan, Circles, Elevated Glucose Acid Pro- Positive Gas Production- Negative Sucrose Acid Pro-Positive Gas "- Neg Lactose Acid "- Pos Gas "- Positive Catalase productions- Negative Urease Productions- Negative Startch Utilizatoin- Absorbed Startch
Re: Help asap! Cant find unknown BacteriaIf it didn't grow on blood and nutrient agar, it's probably anaerobic, so inclubate it anaerobically and check if any colonies have developed.
Re: Help asap! Cant find unknown BacteriaThis is realy poor dschenberger. "Clear" - does that mean no growth? Manitol salt agar - tan??? The stuff is red or, with growth of salt tolerant mannitol fermenters, yellow. Did you even get growth?
Urease? What did you use? If you had no growth on conventional media (assume that's "clear") how do you know it even grew to give you a reaction. Same with the catalase. "Absorbed starch" - now there's a new test. The only reliable observation you offer is that it's a Gram positive rod but I wonder where you even got the material for the Gram stain? Then you name a diverse group bacteria only one of which is a Gram positve rod. That would be Bacilus sp. Tho none of the other observations (if clear means no grwoth, etc) fit. These excercises are opportitnties to learn microbiology. You need to invest a little time - open a book and read.
