apoptosisHi!
I'm Student in Brawijaya University, Malang,Indonesia. My name is Apriyono R, male, 20 years old. Would you explain me about how phospholipidserine can move from extracellular side to intraselular side in apoptosis mechanism. That's all my question. Thanks for your attention.
A teacher will say easy! In fact, it's not so easy
The phenomenon in known as tranversal diffusion or Flip-Flop. It is an unfavorable phenomenon from an energetical point of view- it requires energy. A membranar enzyme called flipase or phospholipidtranslocase(long name, isn't it?!) rraps the phospholipid in a hidrophobe pocket(couldn't find a better word) and then moves it on the other side... PS: you don't need to present yourself... "As a biologist, I firmly believe that when you're dead, you're dead. Except for what you live behind in history. That's the only afterlife" - J. Craig Venter
