Ossification and osteogenesisFor my exam which is coming up next month I have to know what the difference between ossification and osteogenesis is. However, in medical dictionaries and books there isn't a clear difference between the two. Most use the two terms synonymously. Can someone please help me out and tell me how the two terms differ - if at all.
Thanks
They are a lot alike aren't they. I understand you confusion. I think the main difference is osteogenesis is the formation of new bone where the other is formation over the new bone.
Consider the word genesis. Greek for birth or origin.
