anyone know this M/C question

Postby wille2511 » Fri Jan 04, 2008 12:38 am

With each step upward in the hierarchy of biological order, novel properties emerge that were not present at the simpler levels of organization. These emergent properties result from...
a) vital forces that arise at each level
b)the physical and chemical phenomena that operate only in living things
c)the arrangement and interactions between components
d)Simple summation of the individual behavior of the component parts
e) The emergence of supernatural forces

I am guessing its B for some reason

Curious, what class is this for?

It seems to be of the simplest components that comprise each living things and the interactions that exist between them. The more complex the arrangement, a higher order it must had attained. Specialized properties arise too. I think it's C.
c)the arrangement and interactions between components

A tissue is created out of similar cells functioning altogether in unity . An organ has a different function too--that could be specialized in some manner. At same aspect, organs in specific systems coordinate with one another to maintain homesotasis in the organism.

The functions at each level would differ from one another.

I am not agree with this definition, unless this may be for plant tissues. For animal tissue, it is totally wrong definition.

Emergent properties also happen in computer systems, if you're looking for a clue.

I actually don't have a problem with the tissue definition - it may come down to how you define "similar"...

I have to agree with the doc on this one. Take bone tissue. What resemblance might there be between an osteocite and an osteoclast?
