Yeah I didn't even think of that, but it makes sense. A baby with a fully-developed brain would be very hard, if not impossible, for the mother to push out. If the child is born in an earlier stage of development, however, that allows a few years of brain development after birth. It may have had to do with bipedalism but perhaps also with a strengthening of the maternal instinct to make mothers (perhaps fathers as well) more willing to care for helpless children.

Re: The Trigger for Human Evolution from the ApeThe trigger among mammals is androgenesis(The Secret of The Book).
Crossfertilization - collection of genes Selffertilization - selection of genes And this is the biological alchemy. The apelike Adam and androgenate clan from his bosom.
Daughters of the clan and other apelikes???
Re: The Trigger for Human Evolution from the ApeI think it's reasonable to say that environmental factors forced our ancestors to live on the ground in increasingly treeless environments. This change allowed babies to survive that were unsuitable for survival up in the branches, meaning they were not as physically or mentally developed. A mother and newborn that are cared for by their family and friends can afford to be helpless for long periods of time, as long as the reason for the helplessness increases the number of descendants.
My thought is that the combination of intelligence and group living is a positive feedback situation, where the cumulative intelligence of the members of a group is greater than the sum of its parts, so the group therefore becomes a more powerful entity the smarter the members are, increasing the value of intelligence. And round and round it goes. The reasons that intelligence can increase the number of offspring an individual has are probably numerous, but once intelligence becomes a necessity for the continution of the species, it inevitably increases.
Re: The Trigger for Human Evolution from the ApeAdam was ape.
Adam was androgynous male ape. The apelike Adam and androgenate clan from his bosom.

This is what is called a proof by font size: the bigger the truer (more true?). As a consequence dear enarees, I give you a public warning. Either you engage in a discussion, which includes argument and reasoning. And since we are on a scientific forum, facts are welcome to support assertions. Or you get banned. You have an interesting (read wacky) stance on the subject of evolution that makes many "young flat earther creationnist" seem highly reasonable. You have been given time to make your points, so now discuss or... Patrick
Science has proof without any certainty. Creationists have certainty without any proof. (Ashley Montague)
I had just gotten in a habit of ignoring and tuning out everything (s)he says, and from that point on it simply didn't matter to me anymore.
