PLEASE HELP! Genetics HW: Hardy-Weinburg Question

I agree. This problem was a little confusing because resistance to malaria (dominant trait) and sickle cell disease (recessive) are opposite to each other and encoded by the same gene. Thus, while calculations are correct, the conclusions are not. It was stated in the very beginning of the problem that " sickle-cell anemia (ss)". Therefore, Ss and ss will be resistant to malaria while SS will be sensitive. On the other hand, only ss will be subjected to disease.

If you remove malaria, gene pool of SS will increase and HW equilibrium will be shifted.

Yes.. This is more confusing.. I think usually "sickle-cell" is SS.. But the problem wants ss..
This may lead to a miscalculation..

But this HW problems are really interesting.. :D
