First of all; Can somebody link a good picture that describes a neuron, nerve cell, and what purposes the different cell parts have??

And second; could somebody give me a small list of viruses that damages of destroys nerve cells, and where I can get information about how these work and behave?

first of all, I think you can easily find it when you google for it.

And second, I think Rabies virus (fam. Rhabdoviridae, Genus Lyssavirus) would be a good example for that. About the information, please seach again via google/yahoo/wikipedia or else by typing "pathology of rabies virus".
