First of all, I don't support the fighting/death of animals, but I have gotten into arguments in the past about this and would like to ask people who have more knowledge on the subject.

Who would win if these pairs of animals got into a fight?:

gorilla vs cougar

bear vs gorilla

bear vs cougar

1.Gorilla, the largest of the living primates, is a ground-dwelling omnivore that inhabits the forests of Africa. Gorillas are divided into two species and (under debate as of 2006) either four or five subspecies.
And The Cougar (Puma concolor), also known as the Puma or Mountain Lion, is a large, solitary cat found in the Americas. Still, The Cougar can kill and drag prey about 7 times its own weight. It normally hunts large mammals, such as deer, but will eat small animals, such as the American Beaver, the North American Porcupine or even mice, if the need arises and can even kill a Moose. Its diet consists of 50 different species. It hunts alone and ambushes its prey, often from behind.

2. Bears generally lead solitary lives, except for mothers attending her cubs, or males and females during mating season. Bears form temporary groups only when food is plentiful in a small area. Alaskan brown bears group in the same area to feed on salmon during the annual salmon runs, when the fish swim upriver to reach their spawning grounds. Some of the larger species, such as the polar bear and the grizzly bear, are dangerous to humans, especially in areas where they have become used to people. For the most part, bears are shy and are easily frightened of humans. They will, however, defend their cubs ferociously if a situation calls for it.

Death caused by fighting could happen, if the animals belongs to same region. And I think you are querring about extinction in the wild. But largely extinction/Endangered species depend on human activities as we know it Anthropocene. Like the conservation status of The Cougar is Near Threatened (NT) by IUCN.

It depends on what kind of bear. If you are talking grizzly....
I would rule puma out because Puma rely on sneak attacks from behind.
A Gorilla (especially a male siver back) would no doubt win with a puma.
Grizzly VS Gorilla???? I will have to think about that.

Well this is pure speculation... and of course a lot relies on the situation but:

A: cougar : because it's a predator and spends its whole life killing things.

B: bear: Though omnivorous, they are carnivores (technically - carnivora) and are probably just as strong as Gorillas. They might not be as dextrous, but really bears are killing machines when they need to be.

C: Hmm, really depend on the situation... I think the cougar would win because it's faster and relies on tactics rather than all out bashing and biting. then again, the bear is much stronger and bigger...

Really, unless these animals were abused and starved, then put in a pit together, they wouldn't fight in nature. If a gorilla and cougar were anywhere near each other the gorilla would probably run, and the cougar wouldn't attack it because it's so big.
The only of those animals that occur naturally together are the bear and cougar, and I couldn't imagine them ever fighting to the death unless their children were in danger...
More likely they would growl and bite at each other for a little bit then one would run off.

I never liked these kind of questions. And I didnt like that show on Discovery chanell "Battle of the beasts" where they simulated on specualtions who will win. To many variable to even begin thinking about it. And also I think it would greatly depend on specific situation. Even a single man can kill grizzly with just a hard 1 meter long stick if he have luck to poke him right in the eye and pierce his skull cause of power of grizzly charge and distory his brain momentarily.

Couple variables I'm going to ASSUME. One being that they are all adult males ^^ cause female gorilla = ALOT smaller. Two being they are all full grown, this is obvious why. And lastly I'm going with a Polar Bear as the species of bear. . . . . . . . . processing. . . . . Polar Bear wins the tournament 2:0 Gorilla 1:1 Cougar 0:2

This is interesting/stupid. I think that a gorilla is the strongest and most dextrous of all these animals. However, it's killing power isn't all that great, because it doesn't have teeth for ripping an animal apart, or claws.

I think a bear would beat a cougar because of brute strength as well as teeth/claws.

A gorilla would lose to a cougar because the cougar has teeth.

A bear would beat a gorilla. Similar animal, but the bear is just bigger and has some good teeth and claws.

The point to "interesting/stupid" is that they are very contrasting adjectives. First of all it is just stupid speculation. It's ridiculous, would never happen naturally in the wild, and there's really no way to give a right answer.

However, it is sort of an interesting question and discussion.
