Just as the topic says! Do you guys think that the human population can go on like this forever. I mean Malthus' exponential growth theorum is void in the 21st century where we have medicine and technological advances to keep people living for a pretty long time....which is aiding in this overpopulation.

over-crowdedness will take a LONG time to kill off people. If you look at a place like japan, where it is incredibly crowded, and they're not at the point of dying, not even close really. If you think about places like Canada, Russia, and like so many other countries that are just empty, comparatively, you have to imagine how many people could fit into this world. There's only 30 million people in Canada, and it's one of the biggest countries in the world.

I believe that we'd be living on other planets before that, and I believe that God will take us away before that happens.

Today; while traveling I was thinking about same topic, and found that It's very serious problem. We are exhausting our resources too fast.... How we are going to carry on later.... I m Afraid...... then how we are going to save jungles?...... Tiger?..... Trees?....... and hence, Finaly Us?????

I m thinking over it so intensaly nowadays.... that I think quick and effective solution is intensaly needed..... Else time will flush all........

Yeah, haven’t you ever seen the Sci-Fi movies? They have really high cities.
Over crowdedness can kill the human population by I don’t know… helping spread and breed horrible diseases, even maybe ones crossed over from animals such as… birds?

You know we may be able to survive for awhile after nature is gone, but I don’t want nature to be gone.
Did you know that as the education levels rise, the birth rate falls? The American population has stabilized and the only reason the American population is rising is because of immigration. If we could help raise the education level in other countries, especially the education of women, we could help lower the Earth population growth.

ALSO, we have enough food to feed everybody on the planet right now but people are still starving. Those kinds of social/nation interactions must be calculation into how many people Earth can support.

One thing to consider is how much our food-producing industry relies on oil.
Fertilizers must be bound using energy derived from oil.
We rely on huge tractors to till and harvest our fields
On average, food travels 1500 miles (in the U.S.) to it's final destination.
We package our foods in petroleum products
We process our foods using power derived from oil

Essentially, without oil, industrial agriculture will fall, along with many other things. So... with that in mind, will we really be able to continue the process of industrialization and urbanization?

People talk about us having more land-mass to grow into. But in most cases, we're already using that land for one thing or another, so sacrifices must be made. Usually, it's the farmland that pays the price of urbanization.

I think that if everyone in the world was living as sustainably as possible (say as horticulturists) we'd see a dramatic shortage of available, usable land. Really, a person needs a lot of land to live sustainably, and even more land to live unsustainably.
